They've been around in various incarnations for many years.

I still stick by my comments regarding not needing another generalist job board. Jobspeed appears to be focussed on IT jobs only (still not sure what additional value they're adding though).

Its also interesting to see innovative sites like Hoojano and 2Vouch launch.

Re: Kris Kringle ideas

any funny kris kringle ideas?

Re: Seth Yates » Travel next month

I'm exhausted just reading about it. Seems that LinkedIn seems to be destined to be one key element of what I call a multi-platform talent sourcing plan. This is what smart recruiters do: they look everywhere. That shows in the mycareer ad you alluded to and that's what seek did as far back as april last year http://tinyurl.com/6mxhal

Still, the network is still largely unexploited as far as recruitment goes. The main reason for that is the very nature of the service/product: LinkedIn is not a resume database, it is a professional network - and that's not just semantics. For that reason, as many people will attest, engaging potential candidates on the system is hard yakka because you cannot use the gunshot approach to trawling people with classifieds.

The thing, the effort is worth it. You find people you don't normally tap into via job boards, you have a better platform to push your employer brand, etc.

So far so good, let's see what happens after the ipo if it happens. Let's see also how recruiters get to use the system to fully utilise exploit it without mucking it up.

Re: LinkedIn has critical mass in Australia; job boards fans

@carruthk indeed. I think a few other instances recently of such co-opetition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coopetition) are the recently announced deals between Drive.com.au and CarsGuide.com.au (http://www.nathanhuppatz.com/ebay-powerseller-b...) and Ebay.com.au (http://www2.ebay.com/aw/au/200804291053552.html).

Re: LinkedIn has critical mass in Australia; job boards fans

You've raised an interesting issue about competition and how the competitive landscape is changing now. Sounds like we're seeing cooperation/competition become tactical plays depending on the situation. In the past, really the only option seen as viable was competition.

Re: Website Returned To Owner, Unused But In Poor Condition

P.S.
